Marcia, Marcia, Marcia!

Marcia Brady, otherwise known as Maureen McCormick, was the eldest daughter of the beloved Brady Bunch siblings. In reality, McCormick admits that she was the complete opposite of her character, getting involved in the dark parts of Hollywood and drugs. McCormick writes in her book, “Here’s the Story”, “I sought refuge in seemingly glamorous cocaine dens above Hollywood.

I thought I would find answers there, while in reality I was simply running farther from myself. From there, I spiraled downward on a path of self-destruction that cost me my career and very nearly my life.”

The Ladies Man

Burt Reynolds is remembered for many things. One thing in particular is being a bit of a player. It was well known that Reynolds liked to have fun both on and off the screen.

Farrah Fawcett was one of the women who Reynolds was romantically linked too. They starred in the 1981 film The Cannonball Run, and dated his during his 20-year elapse between his divorce from his first wife, Judy Carne, and his marriage to his second wife, Loni Anderson.

Drag Racing's Main Attraction

Drag racing is a sport that is predominately male, but “Jungle Pam” Hardy helped change that by becoming one of the most recognizable faces on the track and for Chevy. Weeks after her graduation from high school, Hardy had plans to go to college.

Those plans changed when Hardy met “Jungle Jim” Liberman, who encouraged her to join the drag racing life. For years, Hardy became a staple at the races, winning audiences wherever she went with her talents - it also helped that her common outfit were shorts and tight shirts. Unfortunately, her career lasted for only a handful of years. Once Liberman died in a tragic car accident, Hardy left drag racing and returned to ordinary life.

60s Heartbreaker

James Dean was the heartthrob of the nation, especially after the release of his most celebrated film Rebel Without a Cause.

Unfortunately, his career only lasted about five years after dying in a tragic car accident. Though his time as Hollywood star was short, his legacy still lives on to this day.

Good Catholic Girl Gone Bad

Who would have known that a good Catholic school girl would become a lusty bombshell? Well, that is exactly what happened to Cindy Morgan, who played Lacey Underall in the film Caddyshack. Once she hit the big screen, her talents, as well as other characteristics, immediately grabbed the audience’s attention.

Looking back on the sexy role, Morgan said, “Caddyshack was my first film and I’ll say that the end product was so completely different, it was originally about the caddies. So, at first, I had nothing to lose to audition. It was fun. All I did was focus on making the person sweet. Look ‘em in the eye, do that thing many women know how to . . .”

A Huge Elvis Fan

Christopher Walken was always a performer at heart, even going as far as putting on clown makeup to put on a show. Influenced by his mother’s desire for stardom, Chris and his brother got into the entertainment industry at an early age.

One of the idols which Walken looked up to the most was Elvis Presley. Ever since he saw him on a magazine, Walken styled his hair after his idol and has not changed it to this day.

Sultry Linda Gray

Linda Gray appeared on a number of television shows, but her most notable performance was playing Sue Ellen Ewing on the CBS television drama series Dallas. She even was nominated for the 1981 Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series.

In addition, the role earned her two Golden Globe Award nominations. Aside from the screen, Gray also had a successfully career on Broadway, with her latest role being in 2014 as the Fairy Godmother in a London production of Cinderella.

Bare-Chested Batman

Known today as the famous Caped Crusader, Adam West wasn’t always . . . well, Adam West. Before he put on the batman suit, West put on army boots after being drafted into the US Army in the 50s. His time in the army wasn’t all bad because during his service he was able to be an announcer for American Forces Network television, beginning his love for entertainment.

Once he got out of the army, he moved to Hawaii where he began an acting career. Since then he has starred in a lot of westerns and crime shows. When he became the greatest detective in the 1960s, West officially took his place among the stars.

The Scream Queen

You may know Jamie Lee Curtis from Freaky Friday or the lady on the Activia yogurt commercials. Curtis’ career took off in the 70s from her role in Halloween.

Curtis has starred in many different roles since her encounter with killer Mike and has enjoyed a life of success. Now 61, Curtis feels just as beautiful in her body as she did when she first made it the big screen.

Aye Aye Captain!

Along with being one of the most consistent box-office performers, Clark Gable was also a hit with the ladies. Over his career, being the lead man meant having a lot of leading ladies. He considered Joan Crawford his favorite actress to work with, and appeared in eight films with her.

In addition, he worked with Mryna Loy, Jean Harlow, Lana Turner, Norma Shearer, and Ava Gardner. His talents, suave smile, and mustache were some of the reasons as to why he was considered the “King of Hollywood”.

Heavenly Looks

Elizabeth Taylor was never really a sex symbol, at least in the traditional sense. She had the hour glass figure which women envied and men pinned up posters on the walls, but she was short and overloaded with both hair and a bosom.

Though she didn’t quite fit with other pin up models like Marilyn Monroe, Taylor’s style and personality stood out more, with many classifying her as a “Hollywood Goddess”.

Storyteller Stud

Clint Eastwood has had a very successful career in the entertainment industry. He rose to international fame with the movies Man With No Name, Dirty Harry, and more. Since then, he has been considered a cultural icon of masculinity. Other than being a “manly man”, Eastwood was also known for creating elaborate stories, which is probably what prompted him to become a filmmaker.

One of his famous fibs is when he got drafted into the Korean War, which caused him to not go to college. Contrary to his tell, his former fling, Sondra Locke, stated that, “He always dropped the Korean War reference, hoping everyone would conclude that he was in combat and might be some sort of hero. Actually, he’d been a lifeguard at Fort Ord in northern California for his entire stint in the military.” Seems like the ladies’ man was also an A class fibber.

A Look That Could Kill

Clearly, Ann-Margaret has looks that could easily take anyone’s breath away, but she had more than just her sultry gaze to offer.

Ann-Margaret had a beautiful singing voice and talents in acting that gained her success, with many even nicknaming her as the female version of Elvis Presley. Though she never dominated the charts as the King, Ann-Margaret held her own and released a variety of gospel and Christmas albums.

19 year-old Kurt Cobain

According to many family and friends, Kurt Cobain grew up as a happy kid who had a talent for drawing and a passion for music. However, things started to change from the moment that his parents divorced at the age of nine.

Since then, Cobain struggled with rules, religion, and adults in general. In high school, it became clear to him that he wasn’t going to graduate on account that he didn’t have enough credits. So, he dropped out and basically became homeless since his mother kicked him out of the house. All these struggles and more would eventually lead Cobain to become one of the greatest musicians of alternative music.

What The Mudshark?!

Led Zeppelin will always go down as being the band which has inspired the most myths and misinformation. One of them includes a mud shark and a groupie. As the story goes, the mud shark was used to pleasure to woman.

With Led Zeppelin being known to buy out entire hotel levels for their eccentric partying, this story and more has continued to spread to the ears of many. If this story did happen to be true, one thing is for sure, there is a sweet old grandma out there with an extremely odd history to share.

A Hollywood Gem

Now the Mayor of Hollywood, Betty White has had an impressive career in television, spanning over 80 years, making her the female with the longest television career.

Surf's Up!

One of Robert Conrad’s very first acting jobs was standing outside of a Chicago movie theater as the film Giant was playing. This was because the theater manager thought that he bore a striking resemblance to James Dean, who was extremely popular at that time.

He had hoped that by Conrad standing outside, it would attract crowds. Happy to report that Conrad was eventually able to break away from the James Dean look-a-like job and start making a name for himself.

More Than Just A Pretty Face

Born Norma Jean Mortenson, Marilyn Monroe started her career in modeling. After getting plastic surgery done on her nose and chin and changing her natural brown hair to blonde – Monroe transformed to the sex symbol that we know today.

Though most remember her for her body, her mind was also a force to be reckon with. It is reported that she had the IQ of 168, which is higher than that of Albert Einstein. Though long gone, Monroe continues to have a major influence on today’s culture, continuing to inspire many with her story and accomplishments.

Warren Beatty fell in love with movies when he would go to the theaters with his older sister. One film that resonated him was Love Affair, mainly because it was a movie which he always imagined he would make. Well, his dreams would come true as he grew up to become an actor and a filmmaker.

Beatty has been nominated for fourteen Academy Awards – four for Best Actor, four for Best Picture, two for Best Director, three for Original Screenplay, and one for Adapted Screenplay – winning Best Director for Reds.

She Puts The SUPER In Supermodel

Since then, she has adorned the cover of Sports Illustrated three times. Before her, no other model was given the title of super. It was only after her swimsuit photoshoot in 1979 that she gained the title. She has been plastered on young boy’s walls ever since.

Later in an interview, he blamed it on the cocaine. Unfortunately, he was never able to overcome his addiction. His battle ended in 2016 when he passed away from liver cancer.

Mamma Mia!

One of the most memorable episodes in the beloved show I Love Lucy is when Lucy goes to Italy to stomp on some grapes. Though it made for great TV, there were many struggles while shooting, especially for Lucille Ball. The most interesting event happened because of the local cast members.

Teresa Tirelli did not speak any English and had someone interpret the scene to her. Obviously, something must have been lost in translation because during the fake fight, she literally held Lucille Ball’s head under the grapes and the star nearly drowned.

True Love Does Exists!

Betty White and Allen Ludden were married in 1963 in Las Vegas. They shared 18 happy years together before Ludden died from stomach cancer in 1981. Through their marriage, White had only one regret, and that was not spending enough time with her true love.

“I spent a whole year, wasted a whole year that Allen and I could have had together, saying, ‘No, I wouldn’t marry him. No, I won’t. No, I won’t leave California. No, I won’t move to New York . . . I wasted a whole year we could have had together.”

Dashing Icon

Marlon Brando Jr. was an American actor and film director and is often regarded as one of the first people to bring Method Acting to mainstream audiences. The beginning of his career started off rough, experiencing a series of blockbuster failures. That all changed when he starred as Vito Coleone in the critically acclaimed film, The Godfather.

Since then, Brando gained huge success, being ranked by the American Film Institute as the fourth-greatest movie star among male movie stars whose screen debuts occurred in or before 1950. In addition, he was one of six professional actors along with Charlie Chaplin, U.S. President Ronald Reagan, Lucille Ball, Frank Sinatra, and Marilyn Monroe, named in 1999 by Time magazine as one of its 100 Most Important People of the Century.

Stars Of Heavy Metal

Judas Priest is an English heavy metal band that is frequently ranked as one of the greatest metal bands of all time. So far, the band has sold over 50 million copies of their albums.

It took a while for the band to get their footing in the music industry, especially with members revolving in and out of the band, but, eventually, they began gaining attention in the 1980s when they adopted a more simplified sound.

It All Started With A Red Bathing Suit

Who would have guessed that one simple red bathing could have changed an entire career? Well, that is exactly what happened in Farrah Fawcett’s case.

After appearing on a poster wearing this red bathing suit, she instantly became an international star as the poster became the best-selling pin-up poster in history. Along with appearing as private investigator Jill Monroe in Charlie’s Angels, Fawcett was ranked in 1996 No. 26 on TV Guide’s “50 Greatest TV stars of All-Time”.

Andre With His Pup

Andre, or better known as Fezzik the friendly giant in The Princess Bride, had a genetic hormone called gigantism, causing him to be about 7 feet tall. Rather than hiding away, Andre embraced his size and used it to his advantage by starting a career in wrestling.

One of the most memorable matches he had was with Hulk Hogan at Wrestle Mania III. After he conquered the wrestling world, Andre chose acting to be his new challenge, which he ended up conquering as well.

The Original Daisy Duke

Ever wondered where Daisy Dukes came from? Well, wonder no more because all the credit goes to Catherine Bach, who played Daisy Duke in the television series, The Dukes of Hazzard. Originally, the producers of the show wanted a Dolly Patron look-a-like to play Bo and Luke’s very attractive cousin.

That all changed, however, when Bach walked in. Not only did she flip the script and got the job, but she changed the face of pop culture by creating the iconic look of Daisy Duke, who was meant to wear knee high boots and a poodle skirt. When asked to bring her clothes in on the set, Bach wore a pair of cut off shorts, high heels, and a T-shirt, creating the famous figure that the world knows today.

Steven Spielberg Looking Like A Snack

Going down in history as one of the greatest blockbuster hits of all time, Jaws became the highest-grossing film of all time until the release of Star Wars.

If You Got It, Flaunt It

Edy Williams appeared in many roles during the beginning of her acting career, but her role in Beyond the Valley of the Dolls, is where she really started making a name for herself.

Punk Rock Babe

Joan Jett was a punk rock singer and musician, known for being in the band the Runaways. Although she wasn’t necessarily the main singer, she did share some of the main vocals.

Their love for cannabis especially took center stage, encouraging the counterculture movement. It was around 1987 when Cheech pursued a solo career, breaking up the iconic duo. However, throughout the years, the two still maintain their friendship and even reunite to put on some performances.

A WONDERful WOMAN

Grace, poise, beauty, and uncanny similarity to the famed comic drawings - it’s no wonder that Lynda Carter landed the role of Wonder Women in the 1970s. Since then, she has become the feminine ideal, constituting both sex appeal and bravery.

Her role as Wonder Women launched Carter’s career in the entertainment industry, even though the show only lasted for three seasons. Even to this day, when people think of Wonder Women, Carter is the first person that pops into the minds of many. Carter has defined the superhero role, leading others like Gal Gadot to take up the mantel today.

The show only lasted about five years with 139 episodes. Though the show had a short reign, Eden continued on in Hollywood, creating a respectable career that is still on going.

King Of Pop

Michael Jackson has become one of the most influential entertainment stars of the 20th century. Known for his unique style, the American singer and songwriter fell under a lot of scrutiny during his career, such as being accused of sexually abusing children.

Even after his death, Jackson’s unorthodox way of life is still being questioned. It can’t be denied though that Jackson was one of the best-selling music artists of all time, with estimated sales of over 350 million records worldwide.

Far Out Stewardesses

The skies certainly were more groovy back in the 60s, and these stewardesses are no exception. Today stewardess, which are now called flight attendants, take their job more seriously and are much more professional when it comes to their wardrobe. Back in the day, that wasn’t the case.

Stewardesses were mostly “eye-candy”, rumored even in some airports to have provided “special services” to some of the flyers. Judging from the forced smiles on their faces, these ladies would be happy to know that there are no longer cocktail waitresses in the sky.

The Dark Side of Hollywood

The British actress began rising to fame with her the television show, Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman, which ran for five years. However, the one role that really transformed her into one of the most desirable women in the 80s was her part in the James Bond movie, Live and Let Die.

Unfortunately, Seymour, at one point, was hesitant on returning to acting after being sexually harassed by a famous film producer. Seymour has yet to reveal the name of the producer out of “respect” since he passed away some time ago.

Flipping Out

Sean Connery shows off by performing a handstand but, judging by Ursula Andress’ face, she looks more concerned than impressed.

This photo was taken on the set of Dr. No, the first in the James Bond films. Apparently being spies can be a bit stressful, causing them the actors to let loose and have some fun between scenes.

Age Is But A Number

Can you believe that Suzanne Pleshette is 42 years old in this photo? Along with finding the fountain of youth, Pleshette was a successful actress with one of her roles being the Alfred Hitchcock film, The Birds.

After her breakout role, Pleshette appeared in a number of television shows and movies. She also took part in voice acting, providing the voices of Yubaba and Zeniba in Spirited Away and Zira in Disney’s The Lion King II: Simba’s Pride.

That Vest Though . . .

Burt Reynolds breakthrough role was in the film Deliverance. The film covered many things that wasn’t common in major Hollywood movies, such as rape. On the first screening of the film, Reynolds noticed four men get up and walk out of the theater. Reynolds didn’t mind.

He said, “(They) saw that picture and suddenly it shook them up. They realized that it’s not something to laugh about.” Deliverance did more than just send a message - it introduced the world to a bare-chested Reynolds, which undeniably helped launch his career.

Dick Cavett Questioning Raquel Welch

In this photo Dick Cavett is questioning Raquel Welch, who was considered one of the most desirable women in the 1970s. Breaking away from the blonde bombshell, Welch was one of the first women to portray a strong female character instead of the submissive sex symbols that were popular before her.

Although she played many successfully roles, Welch is known mainly for her looks and was even chosen by Empire magazine as one of the “100 Sexiest Stars in Film History”.

Purely Country

Here the lovely Loretta Lynn is posing with her beloved guitar and horse, emphasizing her obvious love for the country life. Getting her big break in Nashville back in the 60s, Lynn has since won multiple gold albums.

She was married and divorced three times and had five children. She was also allegedly intimately involved with many other men, including John F. Kennedy. Unfortunately, on June 29, 1967, she died in a car accident at the age of 34, ending her both her life and career short.

The Country Queen

Dolly Patron came from humble roots, living in a one-room cabin in Tennessee. She started singing while she was young and by 1967 she got the role on a television show. Soon afterwards, she released a song that went to country’s top 10.

From then on, Patron has built a powerful name for herself and even has an entire theme park in Tennessee dedicated after her called, Dollywood.

She Don't Got You Babe

Young, beautiful, and recently divorced – Cher poses for Vouge in 1976, looking absolutely fierce.

Obviously, divorce suites her well, as it gave her an opportunity to launch her solo career instead of constantly being tied down with her ex-husband in their show The Sonny and Cher Comedy Hour.

Sweetheart Of The Drag Strip

Did you know that Pam Hardy got into drag racing because of Jim Liberman? “Jungle Jim" first saw Hardy walking down the street in Pennsylvania.

When he saw her, Jim turned his car around and stopped to talk to her. The two hit it off instantly, and, just like that, Pam skipped college to live a life on the road.

From Glitter Wig To Politics

All forces within the world of WWE – “Macho Man”, aka Randy Savage, and Miss Elizabeth would go on and get married a year later, becoming one of the most famous couples in the wrestling industry.

He has since remained a major political figure, now joining the Green Party of the United States.

"Ras Beatle!!!"

George Harrison was a huge fan of Bob Marley and always wanted to meet him in person. Once the president of Island Records, Charley Nuccio, discovered that Harrison was a fan, he made it his mission to get the two musicians together.

On July 13, 1975, backstage at the Roxy Theater in Los Angeles, California, Nuccio made it happen and this picture is one the few that was taken during the historic meeting.

Breaking Boundaries

Born and raised in China, Nancy Kwan had a desire to preform, which is why she went to college to study to be a dancer. Eventually she got her chance on Broadway, performing in The World of Suzie Wong.

Seeing her talents and knowing her potential, stage producer, Ray Stark, encouraged her to try out for the movie role of Suzie. Kwan did and she landed the role, launching her career into international fame. Kwan has played a pivotal role, especially in the acceptance of Asian actors in major Hollywood films.

Red HOT Chili Peppers

Known now for their great music and diverse style, the Red Hot Chili Peppers did not always have the loyal fan base that they do today.

They first formed when they went to Fairfax High School. At their first gig, they barely rounded up 30 people. That all changed when MTV helped them build an actual fan base. With the release of the first album their fan base grew, creating the crazy, fun band that has gone down history.

Beauty Queen Vs. Plain Jane

Both staring on The Beverly Hillbillies, Donna Douglas (Elly May Clampett) and Nancy Kulp (Miss Jane Hathaway) commonly fight over the attention of suitors within the show.

This picture was taken during one of the episodes where this brawl was in the form of a swimsuit contest. It certainly is tough to decide on a winner.

Beam Me Up Scotty!

One was an emotionless scientist while the other was a fearless leader - Spock and Kirk have gone down as one of the most iconic duo in television history.

At first, Leonard Nimoy and William Shatner treated their relationship on the show as nothing but professional but they quickly caught on, as did the rest of the world, that their onscreen relationship is what held the show Star Trek together. Due to their combined efforts, Star Trek has become one of the most influential science fiction series of all time.

That Girl Pushing For Change

Here Marlo Thomas is smiling for the camera as she takes a break on the set of That Girl - a hit sitcom that had a female as the lead. Thomas caught the attention of the ABC producers, and she used that opportunity to promote an idea of focusing a TV show around a girl who is trying to make it into Broadway.

The producers were hesitant, thinking that the audience wouldn’t find it interesting, but, thankfully, they decided to go with it. That Girl was one of the first sitcoms which focused on a working woman’s life that didn’t live with her parents. Thomas’ persistence would later make it possible for more TV shows like this to be made in the future.

Father And Daughter On A Stroll

Here is a photo of the 45th President of the United States, John F. Kennedy, walking down the streets with his daughter, Caroline Kennedy, pushing along her Raggedy Ann doll in her little stroller.

This moment shared between the father and daughter is utterly adorable, but it is bittersweet since Caroline is unaware that her father will be assassinated five days before her sixth birthday.

Who Ya Gonna Call?

Before he hunted spirits in the film Ghostbusters and got stuck in a time loop in Groundhog Day, Billy Murray was just a kid who liked to read biographies of his heroes and sing in the band Dutch Masters while he was in high school.

Little did he know that his quick wit and smart sense of humor would make a significant impact on the comedy world.

A Stunning Munster

The Munster Family was in need for a second Marilyn Munster on the television show when Beverley Owen dropped out of the series after only 13 episodes.

Basically looking for a Marilyn Monroe look-alike, Pat Priest entered in on the scene and became the “ugly” one in The Munsters. Though the role gave her success, and with a few guest appearances on other TV shows during the 60s-70s, Priest finally retired from acting in the 1980s, choosing instead to lay roots down in Idaho where she lives now.

Not A Flintstones Fan

Before making it big on the NBC sketch comedy series Saturday Night Live, Tina Fey was an honors student at Upper Darby High School. She was also a member of the tennis club, drama club, choir, and co-director of the school’s newspaper, The Acorn.

Fey knew early on that she wanted to break into the comedy world, especially having been exposed to it as she grew up. “I remember my parents sneaking me in to see Young Frankenstein. We would also watch Saturday Night Live, or Monty Python, or old Marx Brothers movies. We were not allowed to watch The Flintstones though: my dad hated it because it ripped off The Honeymooners. I actually have a very low level of Flintstones knowledge for someone my age.”

A Suspicious End

In this photo, Wood is firing up the grill as she enjoys the sun at a pool party. She began her acting as a child and received tree Academy Awards before she turned 25 years of age. Unfortunately, her career ended when she died from drowning at 43-years old.

To this day, the events surrounding her death have been controversial, leading the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department to list her cause of death as “drowning and other undetermined factors”.
