Relationships can be one of the most amazing things we get to experience in our lives.
They help us grow as people and teach us how to care for one another.
However, even the best relationships have some troubles down the road. In every relationship, there are always going to be some fights and disagreements here and there.
We can’t always agree on everything with our significant other.
Sometimes, even in the most secure relationship, it’s natural to have a little doubt about whether or not our partner truly loves and cares for us. Would this person always be there for us, or is this relationship only temporary?
You can never be certain.
Some people go as far as testing their loved ones to see how they would react.
They come up with all sorts of crazy ideas to get a reaction from them and test their loyalty.
One woman decided to trick her husband and find out how much he really loves her, but what she learned about him ended up being so much more than what she bargained for.
She instantly regretted it after, but it was too late...
After years of being happily married, she decided to test his loyalty with a simple trick.
It’s not uncommon for a lover or friend to play a small joke on their loved one, but his woman had a particular reason for doing so.
She wanted to see whether or not he would still be faithful to her after the honeymoon phase of their relationship was over.
So, she came up with a plan on how she was going to find this out.
She wrote him a letter where she explained that she wanted to leave him and that their marriage was over.
She tried to sound as convincing as possible.
She wanted him to believe her words because this would be the only way for her to know how he truly feels about her. Was their marriage important to him?
Was he capable of cheating?
She spent hours writing her message down on a piece of paper, measuring her every word before including it.
Little did she know how this trick would affect her future…
In her letter, she said that the love between them had died a long time ago, and there was no point in continuing their marriage.
She wanted to start over and be single for a while.
The woman explained in her letter that this was the end of their road, and she was going to file for a divorce.
She saw no future with him and had to break the news to him sooner or later.
This wife tried to make her letter sound as convincing as possible.
She also reflected on the entire length of their relationship before their marriage and explained they wouldn’t work out as a couple.
She mentioned how different they were and that there was no spark between them anymore.
She told her husband that she needed to be alone for a while, and being married wouldn’t give her the freedom she wanted.
After spending more than three hours writing the letter to her husband, she finally put her pen away, read it over one more time and left it on the bed.
Now, it was time for the second phase of her plan.
The woman knew it was a crazy and risky idea, but she had her reasons.
Knowing how her husband really feels about her was important to her.
She crawled under the bed and waited for her husband to walk inside the room.
She wanted to be there when he read the letter so that she could hear and feel his reaction.
That way, she could find out how he really feels about her. She hoped he would be upset and try to convince her to change her mind.
Would he believe her?
She knew her letter would provoke a reaction, but she didn’t know what it would be. Would her husband be devastated?
Heartbroken? Or relieved?
Either way, she wanted him to show some kind of emotion. She had to get to the bottom of it and find out whether he truly loves her.
She waited and waited for what seemed like forever.
Finally, she heard her front door open. Her husband was home and was about to come inside.
What would his reaction be?
He found the letter on the bed, opened it, and started reading it. She waited to hear some sort of reaction from him, but surprisingly, he was very quiet.
She could feel her heart beating through her chest.
Her husband was silent. He didn’t say a word. What was he doing?
She wanted to see his facial expression but knew it wasn’t possible as he didn’t know that she was there in the same room with him. Then, she heard the strangest thing.
He took out his cellphone and made a call. He was talking to someone and laughing about how relieved he was that his marriage was finally over.
The woman felt like her heart was going to explode.
This was certainly not the reaction she was hoping to get. Did he really not love her anymore?
How could he sound so happy after reading this heartbreaking letter? She was at a loss for words.
She knew that writing that letter would be a significant risk, but she never expected a reaction like this from her husband.
She loved him to bits and hoped he felt the same way about her, but clearly, he couldn’t care less.
She always thought they would spend the rest of their lives together, but as it turns out, her husband had a different idea about his future.
After he finished the phone call, he quickly exited the room.
She heard their front door slam. Her husband had left the house. Where was he going?
Has he been cheating on her? She couldn't believe her eyes.
She crawled out of bed, feeling ashamed and heartbroken. She didn’t know what she should do next.
Then, she noticed another new letter on her bed.
The letter was from her husband. She thought it was a goodbye letter and prepared herself for a storm of tears and heartbreak.
So, she opened it and started reading…
She didn’t remember her husband pausing his phone call to write anything down, so she assumed his letter was going to be short.
She was wrong.
“Dear wife,” the letter began. She was so nervous that she could barely read.
It took her a few minutes to calm down before she could continue reading his letter.
She knew she had to keep reading and find out what her husband had to say, so she forced herself to look at the letter once again.
She took a deep breath and scanned through the rest of his message.
“The next time you try to trick me into proving my love, make sure your feet aren’t sticking out from under the bed.” The woman felt embarrassed.
How could she not notice that her feet were visible the entire time she was hiding under the bed?
She immediately regretted writing this letter full of lies to her husband. She didn’t know how she could look him in the eye after this silly prank.
Would he forgive her?
She started shouting her husband’s name, but he was nowhere to be found.
She thought that he must have been somewhere nearby, so she ran out of the house and looked around.
He wasn’t there either. Where would he go? She started panicking.
Millions of questions were running through her mind. What if he was with another woman? What if he wanted a divorce?
She reached for her phone and dialed his number. He picked up the phone right away and proceeded to laugh at her.
“Did you really think that I was going to fall for that?", he asked.
The woman felt so ashamed. She apologized to him and hoped he would forgive her.
Her husband’s response wasn’t what she was expecting at all...“I love you so much, and it breaks my heart, knowing that you have these doubts about our marriage. I want to spend the rest of my life with you, and nothing will change my mind about that,” he said.
She and her husband still occasionally laugh at her silly prank to this day. Safe to say, she never had doubts about her marriage ever again.
It’s been four years since she wrote that latter, and their marriage is stronger than ever.
