There are many laws and regulations that we all need to follow in order to be a good member to society and to avoid getting fines. However, sometimes you might end up breaking one of those laws such as parking in an unregulated spot only because you have an emergency that you need to take care of ASAP. This is exactly what happened to a man from Rhode Island and he raked up $90 in parking fines.
Luckily, the good judge knew exactly how to handle this situation. Is there something more annoying than getting parking fines? It all starts with a warning and if you don’t pay attention to it, you will end up having to pay tens of dollars to the state in order to avoid an even bigger fine. This is why sometimes it’s better to simply take the bus instead of the car.
A man by the name of Daryl who lives in Rhode Island managed to rake up to $90 in parking fines and he was called to court.
The man knew that since he had to appear in front of a judge, he would more than likely have to pay the entire $90.
Luckily for Daryl, the judge who was assigned to his case was none other than Judge Frank Caprio who is renowned for always trying to teach people a lesson instead of simply making them pay their fines.
This meant that Daryl still had a chance to avoid the $90 parking fine.
Judge Frank Caprio has made a name for himself for being tough on crime. However, the judge isn’t that hard on people that make mistakes such as Daryl for example.
Judge Frank Caprio is such a good man that most people are excited only to see him because it means that he will pay attention to every little detail in their case.
These two are Daryl and Jacob. The little boy’s mother was at work and Daryl didn’t have anyone to leave him with at home so he had no other option than to take him to court with him.
The kid might as well learn a valuable lesson about respecting the laws.
The judge says hello to Daryl and tells him that he has a big problem.
He knows that the reason why Daryl has $90 in parking fines is because he needed to park his car in the middle of the city so that he wouldn’t be late for work and this didn’t really make sense to make the man pay for that.
The judge looks at Jacob and tells him that his dad did something bad. Daryl realizes that Judge Frank Caprio wants to help him out and he smiles.
There’s a chance that he might get away and not pay the $90 fines.
After talking a bit with Daryl, Judge Frank Caprio asks little Jacob if he wants to help him out.
Daryl couldn’t believe what was happening, is the judge really going to ask his five-year-old son for advice?
Judge Frank Caprio knew that this wasn’t a serious case or an important felony and he decided to teach little Jacob a lesson about life.
Not just that, but to also show Daryl that parking anywhere he wants is not okay, so he asked Jacob to come closer.
The judge started asking Jacob questions to find out if his dad really parked illegally because he needed to rush to work and Jacob confirmed this.
The judge knew that Daryl didn’t have any bad intentions, he was just scared to not lose his job.
After talking with Jacob for a couple of minutes, Judge Frank Caprio told the little boy that time has come to make a tough decision.
The five-year-old boy was going to decide if his father needs to pay the $90 fine or not.
As you can clearly imagine, everyone who was attending court that day was in awe.
They couldn’t believe how adorable Jacob was and that Judge Frank Caprio actually gave him the chance to decide if his father was to pay the $90 fine or not.
Judge Frank Caprio talks a bit with Daryl as well and he realizes that he is a good man.
After doing that, he tells Jacob that there are three options that he can pick.
The first option is to obviously pay the total $90 fine and Jacob knew that if he picked this one, then his father would be mad.
Let’s see what the other options are.
The judge told Jacob that the second option is for his father to pay only $30 so that he doesn’t get away free.
The third and last option that Judge Frank Caprio told the kid that he can pick is for his father to not pay anything and to simply get off with a warning.

Without any hesitation, Jacob picked the second option! Can you believe this?
Instead of helping his father get away with a warning, he chose for him to pay $30. The crowd burst out in laughter when that happened.
Judge Frank Caprio told the little boy that he has a great sense of justice and that he is going to make for a good judge one day.
However, this is not where things end.
The judge didn’t want to give Daryl a fine and he decided to make a deal with him.
He told Daryl that if he takes out little Jacob for a delicious breakfast right after the court session is done, then he is getting away with only a warning.
If there is one thing that we can be sure about, then it has to be the fact that Daryl was happy with the deal and that Jacob got to eat all the pancakes that he wanted that morning.
