Things We’ve Been Doing Wrong Our Whole Lives

Misuse Of Everyday Items

Every single day we utilize a wide variety of items such as a toothbrush and cups.

It turns out that we've been misusing some of the goods we've been using regularly. From the way we eat cookies to how we drink our soda. Who would've guessed?

The Opposite End

Did you know that we have been peeling bananas wrong? We could learn a thing or two from monkeys because peeling the banana from the stem-end, the way we humans peel it isn't the best way to peel a banana.

Try peeling your bananas from the other end. This way will ensure that you won't flatten the nub. This will also make your banana eating process easier because as you reach the end of the banana, you will have something to hold on to.

Spoon Holder

Everyone knows that if you use a wooden spoon to cover your boiling pot, it will prevent it from overflowing. However, there's another handy hack we would like to share with you!

Pots have a hole at the end of the handle which can be used not only for hanging but it's also the ideal spot to put your wooden spoon in while cooking! This avoids the mess the spoon would've created if it had been left on your kitchen countertops. Neat, right?

How To Clean A Blender

Cleaning a blender is always tedious, regardless of how well designed the blender is. Getting the dirt out of all the nooks and crannies always seems impossible. What if I told you that there's an easier way to clean your blender?

After rinsing and draining your blender, fill it with warm water and a few drops of liquid detergent. Then turn on the high setting and watch as your blender become spotless. Using this hack will save you a lot of time and your blender will be cleaner than ever!

Easy To Use Plate

Everyone knows what takeout containers are. It's the little box your food from your favorite Chinese restaurant comes in.

These containers might make the delivery process easier, but it's not always practical. Getting the last bit of noodles out of your container with your chopsticks requires a skill that only a few possess. Do not worry, all is not lost! These containers can be unfolded into a very convenient plate.

Dunking Made Easy

The only correct way to eat Oreos is if they are dunked in a glass of milk.

Dunking Oreos can be a messy affair, however. Not only are they messy, but they also tend to break off and fall to the bottom of the glass. Rest assured, you never have to deal with this again thanks to an Instagram user who shared that if you stick a fork through the white center, you'll be good to go. Not all heroes wear capes.

The Perfect Cutting Tool

Have you ever spent hours baking a soft cake just to have it form a clump when you cut into it with a knife? Or spend a lot of money on some fancy soft cheese for your dinner party just to serve a clump of cheese because once again, you used a knife to cut it?

The good news is that dental floss doesn't only help you keep your teeth clean but it can also help you cut through your soft cakes and cheeses seamlessly! Just pull it around your desired item and pull the ends together and I assure you it will cut through your cake or cheese like butter. Your days of serving clumpy cakes are over thanks to this.

The Ideal Temperature

This one may seem like common knowledge, but not everyone knows about this hack especially the younger generations!

Reheating your leftovers can be disappointing. The food might be boiling on top but ice cold in the middle. What if I told you that there's a way to ensure your food will always heat up evenly? If you create a hole in the middle of your food it'll not only heat up more evenly but a lot faster!

The Right Way

If your breath smells a bit funky, eat a Tic Tac!

Instead of putting a bunch into your palm and then trying to cram them back in, use the lid's indent. It's designed to pick up and hold a single mint.

Shopping Hack

After shopping, we like to put our bags in the basket and underneath the shopping cart. However, look out for the piece of metal in an upside-down U shape next time you're at the store.

These were designed so that you can hang your shopping bags on them. This prevents you from having to pile up your groceries and crushing your bread because of it! Even though this is a useful hack, not all shopping carts will have this.

Foiled Again

Don’t you hate when you pull out a length of aluminum foil just to have the entire thing pop out and roll across the floor?

Next time, look at the ends of the box. There should be puncture marks. When you push them in, the paper pops into the roll ends. It holds things in place while still letting you pull out as much as you want.

Poppin’ Straws

Some of us don’t care if our straws try to escape our soda cans.

But if you do, just spin the tab around and slip the straw through the hole. It will hold things in place. Bonus points if you use your own reusable straw!

Lids To The Rescue

If you find yourself with a pudding or fruit cup (or whatever) but no spoon – no worries!

Just take the lid off and sculpt it into a spoon-like shape. It’s enough to let you nom nom nom on your snack. You can also do this with any cardboard inserts within plastic lids (like ice cream).

The Wrong Plunger

If you look in any bathroom, you’ll probably see a red-ish plunger with a flat end.

But actually, this is for the sink! The plunger for a toilet has a more bulbous shape with a thinner section at the end – perfect for pushing down into the bottom of the toilet.

Easier Flossing

Wrapping your dental floss around your fingers like a chump? No worries, the rest of us do that too.

But it turns out we’re all wrong. Simply it ends together to form a loop. It makes it easier on your fingers while still being able to reach those nooks and crannies around the teeth.
