Dr Phil's Divorce Settlement Has Finally Been Revealed

Bitter End

Divorces are one of the saddest things anyone can go through. And for celebrities, it's even worse! The whole ordeal is publicized, and everyone has an opinion. But there are always some questions that were left unanswered ... until now!

We're spilling the tea on how much some of these stars earned (or lost) during their divorces. So get ready for the ultimate list of celebrity settlements, including the real amount Dr. Phil and his ex-wife agreed upon.

Mick Jagger & Jerry Hall

Mick Jagger, the Rolling Stones' lead vocalist, and founding member, married actress-model Jerry Hall in Bali, Indonesia, in 1991. Eight years later, Hall found that Mick was having an affair with Brazilian model Luciana Moran who had fallen pregnant.

It appears as though one of rock's most prominent personalities has succumbed to far too many temptations. Jagger is linked to five different women and the father of eight children. They had a $20 million divorce settlement. From music to movies, here's what Steven Spielberg's wife received.

Steven Spielberg & Amy Irving

Following only a little more than four years of marriage, Steven Spielberg and Amy Irving decided to call it quits. While she was married to the famed filmmaker, Irving recalls feeling like she was a politician's wife.

Amy received a settlement of 100 million dollars as a result of the divorce. For the majority of individuals, this is a substantial sum of money. Spielberg, who has a net worth of over $3.6 billion, was only a little price to pay.

Kevin Costner & Cindy Silva

Kevin Costner and Cindy Silva split in 1994, following a 16-year marriage. Because of Costner's alleged infidelity, the couple was forced to divorce after having three children together.

The charges against Costner led to Silva being paid $80 million in the divorce settlement. In a subsequent interview, the actor confessed that he and Bridget Rooney had a second child together.

James Cameron & Linda Hamilton

After only two years of marriage, James Cameron and Linda Hamilton decided to quit in 1999. Their romance came to an end after Cameron was disloyal while working on the Titanic film.

The couple ended their relationship just a few days after Cameron was awarded an Academy Award for the film. Linda was able to walk away from the relationship with a settlement of 50 million dollars.

Phil Collins & Orianne Cevey

Phil Collins, an English drummer, singer, and composer, won eight Grammy Awards. He and Orianne Cevey had a fascinating love story. They married in 1999, divorced in 2008, and remarried in 2016.

Orianne has apparently not returned the $47 million she got as part of their divorce settlement. However, it is unlikely to have made a dent in Collins' $260 million bank account.

Johnny Depp & Amber Heard

Johnny Depp and Amber Heard divorced after barely two years of marriage. Depp, who has two children, never had kids with Amber and was not required to pay child support. Amber, on the other hand, accused Depp of being abusive.

She has video evidence of him verbally and physically lashing out at her when he lost his anger. Depp was compelled to pay her $6.8 million in the split as a result of these claims.

Chris Rock & Malaak Compton-Rock

Chris Rock, a comedian, and former SNL cast member, was married to Malaak Compton for 18 years. Malaak created StyleWorks, a non-profit hair shop that offers free treatments to people transitioning from poverty to employment. She found that Chris had been cheating on her with 3 other women.

He, later on, admits that their divorce served as a wake-up call. He was required to pay a staggering $35 million as part of the divorce settlement.

Tom Cruise & Katie Holmes

When Katie Holmes and Tom Cruise began dating, the world went crazy. They married and gave birth to a daughter named Suri. Sadly, they ended their relationship in 2012 as a result of Cruises' increasing obsession with Scientology. Katie was plainly not a fan and was concerned for their daughter's safety.

The divorce is not that open to the public, much like the Church of Scientology's ideology. However, they certainly had a $10 million divorce settlement.

Dr. Phil McGraw & Debbie Higgins

Dr. Phil McGraw is a psychologist and author. He originally gained fame as a love and life strategy guru on Oprah Winfrey's weekly show. Then he wrote four best-selling books on life and relationships. Former cheerleader and homecoming queen Debbie Higgins McCall was his first wife at 20, long before his stardom.

Their marriage lasted barely three years, from 1970 to 1973. She received a huge settlement which we'll soon reveal, however, it makes us wonder what happened to the first marriage of this relationship guru.

The First Wife

Phil McGraw is happily married to Robin McGraw, whom he openly adores, and they have two children. Over the course of four decades, Phil and Robin have remained close and effectively maintained their romantic relationship.

However, it should be noted that Phil had another lady in his life before Robin came into the scene. That woman was Phil's ex-wife Debbie Higgins and there has been a lot of mystery surrounding their breakup ...

Perfect Match

Phil grew in North Texas among the oil fields. Still, he was forced to relocate to Kansas when his father accepted an internship and saw an opportunity to pursue his longtime ambition of becoming a psychologist. On the other hand, Debbie was a popular high school student—she was the adorable blonde cheerleader with "the million-dollar smile."

She blended in seamlessly with the large, hulking linebacker, who stuck out with his cowboy drawl accent. They began dating in their sophomore year, and many believed the couple was destined to be together.

Finding Ways

Difficulties in their relationship existed from the start. Debbie was not permitted to date until she reached 16, and her brother kept a close eye on her. On their first date, she returned home five minutes late, which infuriated her parents.

Debbie was grounded for almost a month. But then, nothing can stop love. The young lovers continued to speak daily on the phone.

Young and In Love

Some of the couple's friends recall them as being inseparable as teenagers. Higgins and McGraw graduated from high school in 1968, and Higgins followed him to Lubbock, then Topeka, where he began to develop his professional career.

In a ceremony held at a Presbyterian church in Roeland Park, Kansas, on November 27, 1970, the couple became husband and wife. They were absolutely and totally in love.

Who was Debbie?

Debbie was born in 1950 in Las Vegas, Nevada. She enjoyed a variety of activities as a youngster, including volleyball, dancing, and singing. Before enrolling in the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, where she received her bachelor's degree she attended New York High School, where she was a cheerleader.

Debbie also has a certificate in fashion technology under her belt. And she was even the lead vocalist of the campus band while attending the university.

Making her Mark

Debbie didn't manage to have a long and successful career, but she created a name for herself. It was while working on the film "Demon Hunters: Fear the Silence," starring Mary Bonczek, Brian Gildea, and Rob Dimension, that she had her first major break as a professional editor.

Her performance in the film garnered her widespread fame and opened new possibilities in her professional life. Debbie had previously been seen in the “Christy Mathewson Day."

Crumbling Marriage

According to reports, both Debbie and Dr. Phil were born and raised in Kansas City, where the latter spent more than a decade as a football player. Debbie married Dr. Phil when she was 20 years old, and although Phil was known to be polite and caring as a boyfriend, it is said that this changed once the two became married.

It was just three years after they were married that the couple filed for divorce. When Newsweek interviewed the couple, they spoke up about their crumbling relationship.

Laying Down the Details

Dr. Phil admitted to being a big football player who fell in love with a stunning cheerleader named Debbie during the show. He did, however, state that the union did not work out.

That's all he ever said, providing no further information. On the other hand, Debbie was more than eager to open up and offer her side of the narrative.

Debbie’s Side

Dr. Phil, Debbie claimed, was a domineering individual who made her feel like she was a very tightly coiled spring all of the time. She felt like a wound-up person every time they interacted with one other.

She said that everything went fine at the beginning. However, after some time, everything shifted, and she felt like she was in a mental prison.

Addressing the Issue

It was said that Dr. Phil would have affairs with other women while dating Debbie. She attempted to confront him on many occasions, but each time he became defensive and informed her that this was the norm.

The truth is, Debbie never really talked about this one. In 2014, however, after she passed away, her brother stepped out and shared the shocking news with the world.

Describing Dr. Phil

Debbie's brother stated that Dr. Phil was a violent spouse who periodically fought with his first wife. Debbie was not permitted to leave the house alone or without Phil's consent. He said Phil was openly cheating on his wife with girlfriends both in and out of the office.

He has beds, a sauna, and a gym club in his office, which he has never let Debbie use. She was also alerted about his infidelity by neighbors, who observed him bringing other ladies to the house when she went to the gym.

Staying Quiet

When it comes to his first marriage, Phil McGraw has remained very quiet. An interview with Newsweek was the only time he brought it up in conversation. Phil recalls that there was a lot of pressure to get married at the time.

He was the star football player, and she was the star cheerleader. It seemed like marriage was just the next step. But then again, it didn't work out. He has never responded to the allegations of adultery, nor has he refuted them. But how much did it cost him?

The Death of Debbie

Debbie died tragically in 2014, following a lengthy fight with illness. Her brother, Bill Higgins, verified the tragic news and stated that he attempted to inform Dr. Phil of his sister's death but received no response.

Debbie's daughter, Marci McCall, and brother, Bill Higgins, were left saddened by the death. Marci was conceived a few years after her mother left Dr. Phil, Radar Online reports. And that's not all.

Dr. Phil’s Secret Wife

Celebrity divorces are constantly in the news, and Dr. Phil's split from Debbie is no different. Although their marriage has been mostly forgotten, Debbie referred to herself as "Dr. Phil's secret wife"—and there has been much curiosity about their divorce settlement.

Although the information is difficult to verify, sources indicate that the split cost about $1 million. According to the Affair Post, they never had children, and she did not pursue Dr. Phil for alimony. The love doctor had more to say on the matter ...

Why Marriages Fail

Since that Newsweek interview 18 years ago, Dr. Phil has made no mention of his ex-wife. He has, however, spoken broadly on why marriages collapse. The primary issue is that individuals do not prepare themselves for the necessary hard labor.

As per Dr. Phil, when you enter a marriage without discussing how you want to handle money, how you wish to raise children, who will work or remain at home, and so on, you have set yourself up for failure.

Dating His Future Wife

Dr. Phil began dating Robin Jo Jameson when he and Debbie went through the annulment procedure in 1973. After three years of dating, the couple decided to be married, and by the time 1979 came around, Robin was pregnant with Jay.

Robin gave birth to Jordan, their second child, in 1986. Robin and Phil have a lot to be thankful for in their life, but Dr. Phil is well aware that there is nothing his wife values more than her family.

Fair Share of Controversies

Having given the likes of Ava Louise and Danielle Bregoli nicknamed Bhadbhabie their first viral TV appearances, it's apparent that Phil McGraw, aka Dr. Phil, is well-versed in what makes for engaging television and news programming. Since 2002, the doctor has hosted a daytime television show.

Even though his guests are there to create headlines, he has dealt with more than his fair share of controversy over the years. Well, let's start with his second marriage.

Another Rumor of Divorce

Dr. Phil has been the subject of much curiosity because of his move to give some people a platform to talk on his show and his views on the coronavirus pandemic. But not only that, people are more curious about yet again another rumor of divorce.

He's been wedded to his second wife, Robin Jameson, since 1976. The couple has been the subject of breakup rumors in recent years, though.

Married for Decades

In contrast to his first marriage, which ended abruptly, Dr. Phil and his wife have remained faithful to their vows for decades. In an era when celebrities marry, divorce, and remarry within a few months, it's nearly unheard of for someone to remain married longer as Dr. Phil and his wife, Robin.

The couple got married in 1976 and welcomed two kids, Jay (1979) and Jordan (1979). (1986). Robin has been a frequent guest on Dr. Phil, and her spouse has published a relationship counseling book. Still, it hasn't put an end to rumors that the two are divorcing.

Denouncing Divorce Talks

Dr. Phil denounced the divorce rumors during a June 2019 appearance on Rachael Ray. He also discussed how sincerely he takes his marital vows.

He even explained that his dedication to Robin stemmed from her parents' deaths when she was a child. Dr. Phil returned to his program in September 2019 to address the continuing divorce rumors around him and his wife.

Robin’s Past

Despite her current cheerful demeanor, Robin wasn't always this way. Given that she grew up in an abusive household, it is remarkable that she has turned out the way she has.

The actress shared that she lived in uncertainty every day because of her alcoholic father and didn't like the experience. This is the reason why Dr. Phil wants to remain devoted to her.

The Secret of their Marriage

Robin has made it plain that she has only two rules, which she has adopted from the beginning of her marriage. While many people may find those restrictions strange and weird, they appear to be effective for the pair.

Even though fighting and letting off steam once in a while is beneficial, the mother of two revealed that she informed Dr. Phil from the beginning that this was not the sort of relationship she wanted to be in. The two decided that they would avoid fighting.

Keeping the Romance Alive

When it comes to keeping a good marriage, Robin's first rule is to avoid fighting. On the other hand, her second rule is more concerned with transforming that connection into one that is loving, caring, and supportive of one another, hence maintaining the romance.

When it comes to pampering the guy she loves, she has various tricks up her sleeve. She has kept some of these tricks a secret, but others she has been ready to share.

What Went Wrong

Based on the current life and the narrative of the brother of his first wife, we can’t help but ask what went wrong. It seems like his second marriage is actually going well.

Maybe, it’s just that he hadn't met the love of his life yet!  Or he and Debbie weren’t just that compatible enough.

End and Beginning

After knowing the story of Dr. Phil’s two marriages, we can say that the contrast is visible. Furthermore, we can't truly know the Debbie's side of the story.
