90’s Celebrities - Then and Now!

The 90s were a wild time and a fond memory for anyone in their formative years during the time. It was a time of frosted tips, baggy pants, boy bands, not singing singers, Furbies, Pokemon (generation 1), Crystal Pepsi, gangster rap, and most important of all, GOOD saturday morning television.

The 90s also saw the birth or expansion of MANY stars. Let’s take a look at those celebrities… Then and Now!

Christina Ricci

Christina Ricci won our hearts as “America’s Dark Sweetheart” with breakout roles in the "Adams Family" movies, "Casper", and "Now & Then".

These days she’s playing Zelda Sayre Fitzgerald in “Z: The Beginning of Everything” on Amazon.

Melissa Joan Hart

Melissa rose to fame as the witty Clarissa in "Clarissa Explains it All" in the early 90s, and then later as the titular character in "Sabrina the Teenage Witch". Recently, Melissa was the star of the long-running sitcom "Melissa and Joey".

Alongside that, she has since starred in a handful of TV movies, opened up her own Candy store called SweetHarts (it recently closed due to a lawsuit), and started a clothing line with her husband called "King of Hearts".

Kenan Thompson

Kenan was one of the kings of teenage comedy in the 90s! Being in such integral shows as "Kenan and Kell" and "All That!", as well as the cult classic "Fat Burger', Kenan always knew how to make us laugh.

Recently Kenan has been a long running member of the comedy staple "Saturday Night Live".

Amanda Bynes

Amanda Bynes was another 90s kid that always knew how to turn up the funny, first starting in plays and commercials, but then gaining widespread fame on "All That" and "The Amanda Bynes Show". In the first decade of the 2000s, Amanda starred in popular movies such as "Big Fat Liar", "Easy A", "She's the Man", and "Hairspray".

As of late, she has dropped out of the public eye due to mental health issues.

Will Smith

Will Smith may be Deathstroke in "Suicide Squad", Agent J in the "Men in Black" series, and Dr. Robert Neville in "I Am Legend", but before all of those fantastic movies, Will Smith was the main character in "Fresh Prince of Bel-Air".

Running for the majority of the 90s, the show kickstarted Will Smith's acting career, boosting him to the hollywood elite that he is today.

Lucy Lawless

Lucy Lawless is better known as her 90s hero persona "Xena: Warrior Princess", but many don't know that she got her start on broadway as Betty Rizzo in the 1997 production of "Grease". Along with having a background in musical theater, Lucy is a proud "climate ambassador" for the GreenPeace initiative.

Recently, Lucy has played the character Lucretia in Showtime's "Spartacus" series, Ruby Knowby in "Ash vs. Evil Dead", and Countess Palatine Ingrid Von Marburg in the series "Salem."

Seth Rogan

Making his acting break as Ken Miller in Judd Apatow's "Freeks and Geeks", a cult classic of the late 90s, Seth Rogan is now a staple in today's pop culture.

Starring and co-starring in multiple Judd Apatow films, Seth eventually went on to write and star in his own comedies, such as "Superbad", "Pineapple Express", and "This is the End", to name a few.

Christina Applegate

Starting her acting career as Kelly Bundy on the long running sit-com "Married...with Children", Christina Applegate was a staple in the 90s television lineup.

She went on to star in the cult classic "Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy" as well as a numerous amount of movies stretching through all genres.

Mike Myers

Starting as an early cast member on the Saturday night staple "Saturday Night Live" in the early 90s, Mike Meyers went on to make himself a household name with the hit comedies "Wayne's World" and "Austin Powers".

These days, Mike Meyers has been a little quiet on the acting front, but being such a power player in the first decade of the 2000s, he is taking a well-deserved break.

Justin Timberlake

Justin Timberlake, eternal harbinger of the month of May, is so tied to the 90s that it's debateable if there would even be a 90s without Justin. Starting out on the "Mickey Mouse Club" alongside the likes of Britney Spears, Ryan Gosling, and Christina Aguilara, Justin Timberlake rose to international stardom when he joined the boyband *NSYNC.

Being the obvious star of the group, Justin went on to produce a fruitful solo music career and acting career, being on of the most integral figures in pop culture to this day.
