I know I could go to Zumba. I know Zumba”s mega fun, but I’ve already spent years Salsa/hip-hop dancing. I want a new challenge — a Bollywood challenge.

But let’s back up: Five years ago, I had no idea what Bollywood was. Then, on a whim, I went to a Bhangra dance show (the style of dance that Indian Bollywood films draw from for their epic song and dance numbers). And within an hour, I was crazy in love.
The music was fast and incredibly fresh to my Western ears. And the dancing was even more enthralling — energetic, fun, aerobic, and meant for a lot of people. (I may or may not have spent 6 hours that night watching YouTube videos trying to teach myself Bhangra moves…)

Now, BollyX (which only launched in 2013) is growing fast and making these moves completely accessible to the Western public in the form of 50-minute aerobic dance classes.

In my humble opinion, I think they’re giving Zumba a run for their money.
